Our Values

We aim to create HIGH QUALITY ART by choosing pieces that challenge our artists to expand their skills and challenge our audiences with deep themes and questions. We welcome new, emerging and established artists to our stage. What unites us is the understanding that there is no greater joy for a theatre artist than making the highest quality theatre that they can.

We work to RESPECT our artists’ time and protect their emotional and physical safety. Creating a structured, welcoming and safe rehearsal space where our artists can feel free to take creative risks is paramount to us. We want to signal respect by paying honorariums to all our artists, including actors.

We value our local COMMUNITY. We are passionate about contributing to the theatre scene in Langley and the Fraser Valley. We are proud of where we live and want to create exciting opportunities for local artists. We believe that the arts are an essential part of local culture and that theatre has a way of building community, increasing generosity and empathy, and is a platform for important stories.

We prioritize CANADIAN PLAYS, NEW WORKS, WOMEN’S STORIES, and exploring CLASSIC SCRIPTS.

Among other things, he's led trail rides on a guest ranch; sailed the coast of BC; coached numerous sports at varying levels; and worked as a software developer, robotics engineer, signage fabricator, accountant, realtor, and day care worker. He has even been known to cook a 12 course meal just for the fun of it. He is very pleased to find this outlet for his multi-faceted skill set.

  • Jordan Ravensbergen

    DIRECTOR OF MARKETING

Jordan signed up for theatre school because she wanted to have a job that would be ever changing, with each show presenting its own unique challenges so she would never get bored. Now, she is drawn to theatre for its special brand of magic in the creation and immersion of the world of a show. While she isn't shy of performing, she prefers to support shows backstage through Stage Management or Design. You may have seen her Jellyfish in Little Dipper's last production Wild Light. She is excited to make magic with Little Dipper in the upcoming seasons.

Our Story

Little Dipper Theatre is a non-profit organization founded in 2021 by a group of artists based in and around Langley who are passionate about contributing to the theatre scene in Langley. Our first two productions, Nowheresville, BC and Wild Light, were held at Bez Arts Hub and were world premieres of new scripts, one of which was devised. Our third production, Our Town, was at the Fort Langley Community Hall, which we converted into a theatre space using the truss and riser system that our company acquired that year.

Why “Little Dipper”?

The Little Dipper constellation is also known as Ursa Minor, or the Little Bear. This constellation contains Polaris—the North Star—used throughout history for navigation. We see the Little Bear as the symbol of the artist and the North Star as a reminder to keep exploring new horizons and pushing to grow our craft. The Grizzly Bear is an iconic example of BC wildlife, and we are a proudly British Columbian company.
